Share :
The TNMA160404F XC8120 is a triangular negative insert featuring 6 cutting edges (3 per side), making it one of the most cost-effective shapes for high-volume production. Paired with the XC8120 CVD grade, it is engineered to withstand the extreme abrasiveness of Grey and Ductile iron while maintaining superior dimensional accuracy.
Key Features:
Grade XC8120 (CVD Coated): A specialized grade featuring a thick Alumina coating layer. This acts as a powerful thermal barrier, protecting the carbide substrate from the high temperatures generated during high-velocity cast iron turning.
Flat-Top Design (TNMA): By eliminating the chipbreaker groove, the cutting edge is fully supported by the carbide mass. This prevents micro-chipping and edge deformation, which are common when machining "crusty" or sandy cast surfaces.
0.4mm Nose Radius: The "04" radius is optimized for finishing operations. It allows for high precision, low cutting forces, and excellent surface finishes on tight-tolerance components like engine blocks or valve housings.
Negative 60° Triangle: Provides 6 usable edges per insert, offering a significantly lower cost-per-part than positive or rhombic inserts.
Best For:
High-speed finishing of Grey Cast Iron (GG) and Nodular/Ductile Iron (GGG).
Applications where tool pressure must be kept low to avoid thin-wall deformation.
Compatible with standard MTJNR / PTJNR / WTJNR style tool holders.
