The WNMG080408R XC8110 is an 80° Trigon (hexagonal) insert that provides 6 usable cutting edges, offering a 50% increase in economy over standard diamond-shaped inserts. When paired with the XC8110 grade, it excels at handling the abrasive "crust" and thermal demands of grey and ductile iron production.
Key Features:
Grade XC8110: A premium CVD-coated grade featuring a thick Alumina layer. This coating acts as a thermal shield, allowing for high cutting speeds while protecting the carbide from the abrasive wear typical of cast iron.
0.8mm Nose Radius: Provides a significantly more robust cutting corner compared to finishing inserts. This radius allows for higher feed rates and is more resistant to chipping during interrupted cuts or when machining uneven cast surfaces.
Trigon Geometry: The W-shape offers the wide-angle strength of a square (SNMG) with the clearance and versatility of a diamond (CNMG), making it ideal for both longitudinal turning and facing operations.
Double-Sided Efficiency: With 3 edges on the top and 3 on the bottom, this negative insert significantly reduces the cost-per-component in high-production machine shops.
Best For:
Medium-duty roughing and semi-finishing of Grey Cast Iron (GG) and Ductile Iron (GGG).
Automotive components like brake discs, engine blocks, and flywheels.
Compatible with standard DWLNR / PWLNR / MWLNR style tool holders.
