Master tough stainless steel applications with the TCMT 16T308M XP7120. This 60° triangular, positive-clearance insert is the professional’s choice for internal boring where material work-hardening and heat are constant challenges.
The XP7120 Grade is a specialized PVD-coated carbide. Unlike CVD coatings which can be thick and brittle, this PVD layer is thin and exceptionally sharp, preventing "built-up edge" (BUE) where the stainless steel welds itself to the tool. This ensures consistent dimensions and a superior surface finish over long production runs.
Key Features:
XP7120 Stainless Specialist Grade: High-toughness substrate paired with a thermal-resistant PVD coating, specifically engineered for M-Group (Stainless) and S-Group (Superalloys).
Positive 7° Relief Angle: The TCMT geometry reduces cutting resistance, making it ideal for long-reach boring bars where minimizing chatter is critical.
0.8mm Reinforced Radius: Offers significantly higher edge strength than the 0.4mm version, allowing for higher feed rates and better performance in interrupted cuts or when removing heavy scale.
Precision Chip Control: Designed to break the long, stringy chips common in austenitic stainless steels, protecting the internal bore surface from "chip-wrap" damage.
